Every year, as part of the Parish's Annual Stewardship Renewal, we invite members of the congregation to review their commitment to Christ through their use of time, talents and money, and to set before them the needs of our Parish.

Time and Talents 

Last year we emphasised Time and Talents by inviting you to look at your entry in the parish Record of Activities and to tell us of any corrections or additions. Thank you for the responses which we received. Wholesale revision is not needed this year, so we have not enclosed a print-out form. If you have arrived since last October, and would like to be in the Record, please take a blank form from near the entrance to the church and complete and return it.

Money 

The Church Hall Appeal is our main financial objective this year. However, rising costs still have to be met. Our contribution to the Diocese will increase by 11%, which is more than inflation, largely because parishes are progressively taking responsibility for clergy pensions. While keeping increases in costs within the parish to the bare minimum, the Church Council has been very concerned by the increase in the administration load on the clergy resulting from the growth in parish activity in recent years. The Council therefore wishes to improve the secretarial support to the clergy, which is likely to cost some £3,000 per year. As the result of all these, we need to increase our income from giving by some £15,000, which is an average of about £1.25 per week per member of the Stewardship scheme. It is likely that some members will be unable to increase their giving. That means that many of us need to increase our giving by significantly more, perhaps by several pounds per week. We also need more people to join the scheme and take advantage of the new tax rules.

Tax Recovery

The rules for the recovery of tax by the church have been simplified. There is no need in future for covenants covering four years, but you do need to make the required declaration. We hope that if you pay tax you will make a Gift Aid declaration. This helps the church and costs you nothing.
