We should recognise the principle that giving back money to God for his work should be the first charge on our wealth - not the last. The money we give supports God's work in this Parish, in the Diocese and through charitable work elsewhere. Our income will reduce by about £600 from loss of newspaper salvage (the price has collapsed and we need the building for the Sunday School). Spending in our Parish
The growth of parish activity in recent years has increased the administrative load on the clergy. The Church Council considers that it is essential to increase the secretarial support provided to the clergy, to allow them to devote more time to pastoral care. Providing this, and meeting minimum increased costs of existing work will cost some £4,900. Charitable Giving As this year, the Church Council plans to give £13,500 from general income in 2001, and will increase this to 10% of income from donors if resources allow. Details of our giving are shown here. Spending by the Diocese Our share is expected to rise by £9,500 to meet:
Our share has also increased because we are a growing congregation. Taxation The tax rules have changed. For once they are now simpler, and more favourable to both donors and to charities.
